Filzmoos – the mountain village with heart
A big thank you to all our sponsors
"A heart for UNICEF" – the United Nations Children’s Fund has been dear to the hearts of the people of Filzmoos for many years.
Heribert Klein, PR boss of the Dresdner Bank in Rheinland, Germany and unrelenting motor for the United Nations' Childrens' Charity for nearly 30 years had a great idea whilst on one of his many holidays in the mountain resort of Filzmoos. At the Unterhofalm he watched the well-known wood carver, Stefan Gappmaier, carve a wooden heart. On the spur of the moment he asked Stefan to produce 101 hearts for his UNICEF project.
Sponsors from all walks of life, famous people, actors, but also ordinary folk like "you or I" were found for the brightly painted hearts. More hearts made by Filzmoos carpenters and painted by the primary school children followed.
Many Filzmoos locals, hoteliers and an array of local businesses kindly sponsored a heart for Euro 30.00 each.
“We’re particulary pleased that visitors
to Filzmoos have a heart for our hearts“, beams the Filzmoos Tourism
Director.
The names of each artist and sponsor are engraved on each individual UNICEF heart.
The "Music in a Mountain Village" concert takes place every year, with all proceeds going to UNICEF.
We would be pleased to hear from you if you would like to sponsor a
heart too.
