Born in Grieskirchen, Upper Austria. She lives and works in Salzburg and Merano.
She is a visual artist specialising in painting, sculpture and photography: through interdisciplinary collaboration with artists from other creative fields, such as dance and music, she expands her visual practice into new, unique projects.
The sculptor MONIKA HARTL moulds heads from clay with highly simplified features. In her exhibitions and installations, she draws attention not only to the capacity for human communication, but also to the communicative power of art. Her works have been shown in over 50 solo and group exhibitions across Europe.
In 2025, she was invited to take part in the 6th Genoa Biennale, which featured artists from over 20 nations. Solo exhibitions in Salzburg and Rome followed in the same year. In December 2025, she was awarded third place in the photography category at the SaturARTE, Concorso Nazionale d’Arte Contemporanea.
