SUSANNE WEBER
Felt paintings
Impressionism
“Felt – an ancient, magical material that immediately speaks to the senses through its texture.”
Susanne Weber (born 1962) is a Viennese textile artist who, through her felt paintings, has created an art form that is unique in Austria. In her works, the boundaries between reality and fantasy become blurred.
A qualified biologist, she finds inspiration in nature, often in her own wild woodland garden. For her felt paintings, she particularly favours wool from Tyrolean mountain sheep, which practically carries the DNA of the mountain world within it and is transformed, through many stages of work, into imaginative, atmospheric motifs.
Susanne Weber’s art is an invitation to discover the hidden poetry behind the everyday and to bring authenticity and warmth into one’s own home.
